Jenny’s Story

Hi, my name is Jenny, and I just want to share a little bit about how the MOMS program has impacted my life.
I was happily married for almost 12 years. My husband was the breadwinner, and I was a stay-at-home mom, taking care of our daughter. Life was good. But everything changed last year on February 25th.
My husband had been really stressed about his job and finances. He was depressed for a couple of weeks, and then… he took his own life. It was so sudden, and I had no idea how to even function after that. I had never experienced depression before, but after losing him, I had to start taking medication just to cope.
I used to be easygoing and cheerful, but suddenly I was afraid to do everything—because he had always taken care of us. I didn’t know where to start.
Then in August, I joined the MOMS program. The first help I got was school supplies for my daughter. They gave me everything on her list, and I was so surprised. I remember thinking, “Wow… good people really do exist.” That moment gave me a little bit of hope.
Since then, I’ve been going to the classes twice a month, and I have a mentor, Denae Ruble who listens and supports me through everything.
Last October, I hit another low point. I was being mistreated by a family member, and honestly, I almost gave up on life. I told my mentor, and she connected me with Elisabeth and her mentor. They prayed with me, and something lifted. I felt like I could breathe again.
A month later, I applied for a part-time job—my first job in 9 years. I started working in December. Then earlier this year, when my old washer broke, I reached out to Elisabeth just asking if she knew someone who could fix it… and instead, she helped me get a new one. I cried—I couldn’t believe it.
Being a single mom is hard. It’s lonely and scary. But thanks to the MOMS program—and the people who support it—I’m not doing this alone anymore.
Thank you for giving to this program. Because of your support, moms like me get the strength and help we need to keep moving forward—for ourselves and for our kids.
I just want to say thank you—from the bottom of my heart—for being a part of this. Your kindness really does make a difference.
