Children of single parent families have higher incidences of learning problems, emotional and behavioral problems, social difficulties, and are more likely to be raised in poverty.
- According to the US Census Bureau, one out of every two children in the United States will live in single parent family at some time before they reach age 18.Children raised in single parent families are 4 times more likely to experience learning problems, emotional, and behavioral problems.
- In 2007, 25% of the births in Dakota County, Minnesota were to single mothers.
- In the Minnesota state 2000 census, 30% of children living in single mother households were living below the poverty line.
Keys to Our Success
- Mentoring - One-to-one mentoring offers a personal relationship and support.
- Working Program - Goal planning is important to making life changes. All of our moms are working toward goals with the support of a mentor.
- Long-term Support- Lasting change takes time. We offer flexible timelines; families can be in our program for up to three years.
- Family Advocacy - We believe in a team approach and collaborate with county and community agencies for comprehensive assistance.
- Non profit agency 501c3 - donations are tax deductible
